"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile."
In this post, I wanted to share the gospel written in easy terms. I hope that through writing and sharing it, we will all grow in understanding of what the gospel is so that we can confidently share it with unbelievers.
[ The outline I'm using of how to explain the gospel came from Allen Parr's " Easiest Way to Share the Gospel" video on Youtube. Channel name- THE BEAT by Allen Parr. ]
THE GOSPEL
1. All Humans are Sinners
"Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned— "
-Romans 5:12
Due to the sin of Adam and Eve at the beginning of creation, all humans born after them were born into sin. It is this sinful nature that separates us from God and causes us to be easily inclined to do what is wrong in God's eyes. We continue to live lifestyles of sin because of our sinful nature.
It is important to know this as it emphasizes our inability to reach God on our own and emphasizes our need for a Savior.
2. We are Destined to Die due to Our Sin
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
-Romans 6:23 NIV
Death entered the world through Adam's sin and that is why all humans die at some point. The punishment for our sin is death.
3. God Sent Jesus to Die in Our Place for Our Sins
'This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.'
-1 John 4:9-10
God made a way for all people who believe to be saved and that is through His Son, Jesus Christ. All who believe in Jesus inherit His righteousness and are given eternal life.
4. Jesus Rose From the Dead on the Third Day
'that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born. '
- 1 Corinthians 15:4-8
The fact that Jesus was raised shows that resurrection from the dead is possible and that we are truly freed from our sins.
5. Jesus is Coming Back Soon and Judgement will Follow
“'When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.'"
-Matthew 25:31-33
Jesus will return again to judge the earth and will call unto Him those who are His. Those who haven't accepted Him will be thrown into the lake of fire with the devil and his angels
( Matthew 25:41 ).
