"(7) No one can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for them—
(8) the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough— (9) so that they should live on forever and not see decay."
In these verses of Psalm 49, the Psalmist declares that no amount of human wealth can prevent any man from experiencing death. This is a victory that can only be accomplished through faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The price Jesus paid to redeem us from sin and death was costly- a price that we could never pay on our own. Even so, God did not spare His Only-Begotten Son but sent Him to be the sacrifice for our sins so that we could receive salvation through Him ( Romans 6:23 ). As 1st Peter 1:18 says, it is through "the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect" that all believers are able to pass from death to life. As a result of Jesus' sacrifice, we have the hope of being with God for eternity and the blessing of having a personal relationship with the Living God.
Take some time to meditate on how things changed in your life ever since coming to know Jesus. What can you meditate on and thank God for as you reflect on all God has done for you?
God, thank You for sending Jesus as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. Thank You for loving us and wanting to know us despite our sin and imperfections. Please be glorified and sanctified, and help more people to hear of Jesus' sacrifice.
In Jesus' Name, I pray, amen.
