When Facing Feelings of Rejection

Updated: Apr 3, 2023

'For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.'

Rejection can be experienced in any circumstance. It can be experienced when rejected by a crush or when facing a break up. It can also be experienced in relationships with family and friends. Despite all this, something that I've learned is that, in Christ, it is imposible to be completely overcome by rejection. This doesn't mean that feelings of rejection won't hurt, but it emphasizes a reality that is in Christ. No matter what, God will never leave you or forsake you.

Jesus says in Mark 12:30, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ Additionally, He tells us that we are to love Him more than anyone else in our lives, even when it comes to our family ( Matt. 10:37 ). God is supposed to be our top priority and the Only One sitting on the throne of our hearts. Our hearts should be completely set on and filled with God. Our hearts shouldn’t belong to anyone or anything else. This leaves no space left on the throne of our hearts for any other person.

No matter who iwe may be rejected by in the future, it would not change the fact that God is still with us. This should give us security when facing feelings of rejection as we know that God’s love for us will never change. We can all rest in the fact that no matter who comes or goes, God’s love for us will stay constant because we serve a God whose "love endures forever

( Psalm 136 ).
