"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, (17) that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."
It's essential that we spend time time alone with God studying His Word each day. Sometimes it may feel like work, but reading and applying God's Word to our lives is fundamental in continuing to grow in our walk with God. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 explains that Scripture equips and works in us to teach, rebuke, correct, and train us in being more like Jesus. Through it, we get to know God more and see God for who He is. Additionally, it points us to Jesus, in whom we have received salvation and eternal life.
Some practical tips to becoming more consistent in studing God's Word include:
• Set a time and place to study the Bible each day. This will help you in growing the habit of reading God's Word each day.
• Commit to reading a specific book, looking at a specific theme, or going by a reading schedule. This will help you with being consistent and will help you to study with purpose.
• Play instrumental music to help you focus better during your Quiet Time. It will be easy to space out if you are reading in complete silence or if you can hear people talking in the background as you study.
• Use Bible dictionaries and commentaries to further your understanding of the Scripture
( the Blue Letter Bible app has good and reliable commentaries )
Spending time in God's Word will look different for everyone and some of these tips might not benefit all. However, God will help us in spending time in His Word as we build better habits to do so.
"The Bible is a guidebook in the journey of life, and the only one that points the way to heaven."
