Embracing Seasons of Change

Updated: Apr 3, 2023

Even though the times may change, we can be confident in the fact that God stays the same forever:

“For I the Lord do not change"

Change is inevitable for all people because we live in a world that is constantly moving and progressing. Whether it is in our general lives or in our walk with God, change is something that we should all prepare for. When not taken seriously, change can lead to barriers in our relationship with God as we navigate through new schedules, relationships, and feelings that come with the new environment. Nevertheless, it can also allow us to experience God in new ways and see more of His faithfulness through the different situations that we encounter. Furthermore, change leads to breakthroughs as it can free us from a place of being stagnant and unproductive in our devotion to God. When Joshua, the servant of God who succeeded Moses in leading the Israelites into the Promised Land, was alive, the Israelites of the generation were fully obedient and devoted to God. They made their sacrifices to Him and trusted in Him fully. However, things changed when Joshua and his immediate successors died. A new generation of people "who neither knew the Lord nor what he had done for Israel" rose up and did evil in God's eyes ( Judges 2:10 ). The change of losing Joshua and the previous generation of faithful worshippers led the Israelites to forsake God as they drifted from obeying Him. Here, we can see how change produced bad outcomes in the lives of the Israelites. This situation can be used by us today as a warning to help us push to keep God first in the upcoming seasons and situations we may face. By getting rid of any areas of sin and distance from God today, it will allow you to be ready when new situations arrive that may test your faith. It also prevents any change from driving a further wedge between you and the plans God has for you.

Q: What can you do today that will help you be ready when times change?

Keep Close to God now, so that when change comes, you will be ready.
