'Then Moses told his father-in-law all that the Lord had done to Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel’s sake, all the hardship that had come upon them in the way, and how the Lord had delivered them. And Jethro rejoiced for all the good that the Lord had done to Israel, in that he had delivered them out of the hand of the Egyptians.'
At one point during the Israelites' stay in the wilderness, Jethro, Moses's father-in-law, came to visit Moses. Upon his arrival, Moses wasted no time in sharing with Jethro all that God had done in delivering the Israelites from Egypt. In response, it is written that "Jethro rejoiced for all the good that the Lord had done to Israel" ( v.9 ). Just like in Moses's encounter with Jethro, when we share testimonies of what God has done in our lives with others, it can serve to strengthen their faith. These testimonies don't solely have to be the testimony of how you've been saved, but can simply be sharing what sins God has delivered you from, struggles that God has been helping you through, and even just sharing ways that God has answered prayers. By sharing the ways that God is working in our personal lives, others can be reminded of how God is still very much present in the world today- serving as a witness to both unbelievers and believers alike.
Q: In what ways can you serve to be an encouragement in faith to those around you?
Q: In what ways has God been working in your life recently?
God, I know that You are still present in the world today and that You are constantly working in each of the lives of Your children. Help me to testify of Your goodness before others, please. Help me to share the ways You've been refining me and directing me and please glorify Yourself through my words. Encourage others to draw closer to You through me.
In Jesus' Name, I pray, Amen.
